The Republican National Committee on Tuesday announced that CNN is partnering with Salem Media Group to host three GOP 2016 presidential primary debates sanctioned by the RNC. Conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt will participate in a Q&A in the first debate, which is scheduled to air Sept. 16 on CNN, according to a release, though details on the format have not been finalized. I am delighted to be included with journalists posing questions as part of one of America's finest political traditions — the presidential debate, Hewitt said in a statement. These debates come at a critical time, and good questions will allow Republican primary voters the opportunity to see and hear their would-be nominees provide answers to issues that genuinely concern them. Any reporter who is also a political junkie welcomes the chance to be on such a panel, which of course I do.

Wal-Mart is Exhibit A in the argument against imposing a one-size-fits-all minimum wage straitjacket on the U.S. economy. It is raising wages for workers not because it wants to be nice, but because competition for workers is forcing it to do so.

Stop Loretta Lynch

Submitted 9 years ago by ActRight Community

What does it take for Senate Republicans to decide not to confirm Loretta Lynch, who is President Obama’s nominee to be attorney general? At what point is the lawlessness simply too much? It is entirely within the power of the newly elected Republican majority in the Senate not to confirm Ms. Lynch. The only question is whether the GOP majority...

Are you better off than you were four years ago? Ronald Reagan asked at the close of the sole debate in the 1980 election, ticking off a list of things — the economy, unemployment, the country’s world standing — that had all headed south with the Democrats’ leadership, and the country agreed they were not. And so from now till the polls close in 2016, Republicans should ask the American people if the world is now better off than it was when Obama took office, and point at the ways it is not. Iran and Vladimir Putin are both better off, and Islamist extremists are better off beyond their wildest dreams of six years ago, but that about does it. Israel is not better off — its relations with us are worse than the weather; Ukraine is not better off — it is being slowly dismembered; Syria, Libya and Yemen are not better off — they had dictators then, but were not yet a war zone — Denmark, France and Australia are not better off — their cities were not yet the targets of Islamist extremists; and Iraq — the subject of so much intense misrememberance — is perhaps the least better-off of them all.

The Democrats who wrote and passed the Affordable Care Act were sure of two things: The law had to include a mandate requiring every American to purchase health insurance, and it had to have an enforcement mechanism to make the mandate work. Enforcement has always been at the heart of Obamacare. RELATED ARTICLE: GOP pounces on Obamacare tax form error Now, though, enforcement time has come, and some Democrats are shying away from the coercive measures they themselves wrote into law. The Internal Revenue Service is the enforcement arm of Obamacare, and with tax forms due April 15, Americans who did not purchase coverage and who have not received one of the many exemptions already offered by the administration are discovering they will have to pay a substantial fine. For a household with, say, no kids and two earners making $35,000 a piece, the fine will be $500, paid at tax time.
